A word from the Director
Ten Years Already
The hematology and oncology Institute born in February 2008, provides children and adolescents of Lyon and the region a large range of diagnosis and therapeutic expertise but also a global management (pain, psychology, school, art…) in the field of cancers or hematology or immunology diseases.
Beyond cares, like all institutions, the IHOPE has a local, regional and national teaching role and of course is involved in the European research thanks to the medical experts of the Institution.
The strong will of these two institutions brings together national and European expertise which benefit each day to the children managed in the Institute. Three overarching values seemed essential: welcome, respect and research for children and adolescents and their family to go through the ordeal of these rare and serious pathologies the best way.
Prof Yves Bertrand, Manager of the IHOPE, pediatric hematologist, and Dr Christophe Bergeron, pediatric oncologist.
